In collaboration with our sister company, Aandrijf Technisch Buro, we have successfully engineered and delivered two bespoke winch gearboxes featuring integrated electromagnetic brakes for a client in the dredging industry. Due to the gearbox’s compact design, there was insufficient space to install a conventional brake at the non-drive end of the electric motor. To overcome this challenge, we developed and constructed an intermediate flange, allowing us to fit the SFB40 electromagnetic spring-loaded brake onto these planetary winch drives.

Our customised solution includes a motor adapter, input shaft, and brake flange, designed to withstand a maximum dynamic output torque of 156,000Nm with a ratio of 165.4. The electromagnetic brake provides a braking torque of 400Nm. The gearboxes were delivered with primer paint, applied in our in-house painting facility.

This project underscores Aandrijf Technisch Buro’s expertise in delivering tailored mechanical solutions to meet complex engineering challenges.
